Too Lazy to Work Out

But, let’s be honest, for some of you, this movement challenge might have pushed you toward a very uncomfortable space.

Some of you might be feeling unmotivated to workout.

Maybe you’re struggling with how to stay consistent with working out.

Maybe this challenge has you wondering if you’re just too lazy to work out on a daily basis.

Let me tell you…there is NO SUCH THING as being too lazy to do something that we enjoy! If we’re unmotivated, inconsistent with and disinterested in working out, the problem isn't necessarily us. The problem might just be the so-called workouts we’re doing, and how we feel about them.

So, in this past Wednesday’s workshop, we dug into how we REALLY feel about moving by unpacking how our inner child feels about physical play. Watch the vid below to see what I mean.

Child’s Play

In this week’s workshop, we had a rousing discussion about how we could unpack our childhood experiences with movement to supercharge our wellness goals today.

Look, we all know that subconscious (or conscious) beliefs about wellness can hold us back from our goals, leaving us frustrated and in a rut. Or, our wellness beliefs can make it easier to reach our goals. We won’t know which category we fall into unless we examine those beliefs? How often do we do that? That’s what we did Wednesday.

In the #PhyteWellWednesday Workshop, we learned some things about ourselves and the relationship we had with movement as kids.

In some cases, certain types of physical play were encouraged over other types (dancing over playing ball or vice versa).

For a lot of us, physical play was presented as the day’s holy grail, the reward you MIGHT have a chance to participate in if you finished your chores and homework quickly enough.

Whenever we try to build a new wellness habit or break an old one, it helps to unpack our subconscious feelings about that activity that could act as a wellness barrier or an asset for us now. Where movement is concerned, what are you memories? Were encouraged not to do much physical play- just sit still, keep your clothes clean, and look pretty? Or were you sent out to play with the neighborhood kids until the street lights came on (signaling that daily movement can be fun )?
