Step 1: What Load Are We Lowering?

Step 1

What “Load”?

There’s no evidence that the self-care practices we discuss will lower a person’s “viral load” (i.e. the amount of virus particles in COVID 19-positive people).

Viral Load

“a measurement of the amount of a virus in an organism”

-Oxford Languages

The “Load” we worked to lower with the 14-day BOC x Byte Lower the Load Challenge was the collective burden leveraged against our society and our bodies during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Now that we’ve transitioned out of the pandemic (phew!), we can put al this learning to use in fighting other common viral infections like the Flu, RSV (respiratory syncitial virus) and the common cold. The science holds up. Using caution and handwashing can lower our exposure to viruses. Then, healthy habits help support our immune system to fight off any viruses we happen to be exposed to.

We all thrive when we relieve the strain felt by individuals, families, workplaces and our healthcare systems.
